This kind of women's footwear is called in english mules, slippers, slip-ons, mule shoes or even clogs. In Italy they are called mules or better sabot if they have closed toes. Both are french terms, I don't know about other languages.

With high stiletto heels or kitten heels mule slippers can be evening footwear, if made in luxury satin and embroidery. If made in leather they are perfect daytime shoes, with pants but also with skirts. Some of these models have a contrasting application detail on the toe point, in the way that is usually seen on Chanel sling-backs. I must confess I had this idea when I saw a similar model in the streets of Rome.

I'm expecting that this kind of slippers are coming back in fashion in their exotic embroidered version for the evening, and as a spring-summer shoe if made in more common materials. After so many boots and thongs, I think this could be a new trend for the next season.
