Round Toe Pump Shoes

This kind of women's footwear is called slip-on shoes, slip-ons, pump shoes, pumps or spectators in the US, and court shoes or courts in the UK. In Italy everybody calls them decolletes (or misspelled decolté) which in French means low toe cleavage shoes, but the French call them escarpins.

These fashion vintage shoes have a round toe, in a shape that was introduced, after a few years of prevailing pointy toes, by a few brands like Prada, Alexander McQueen and Marc Jacobs. Some emerging brands like Irregular Choice, Pedro Garcia, Pura Lòpez and other spanish and english designers were the first to follow this trend. Other designers keep on with the pointy toes, while other big names drifted toward intermediate shapes.

Some of these models have a ribbon or flower application on the toe box. These applications, together with the proposal of romantic shapes, soft materials, thicker heels seem to be the predominant trends in this last season. Is this the end of the stiletto heels? These shoes make me think of 50's pin-ups and burlesque divas like Betty Page and Dita Von Teese. In fact they would be perfect with an hour-glass waist in a corset with frills and laces.

Among other designers well representing this romantic trend, I would list Beatrix Ong, Pierre Hardy, Michel Perry, Karine Arabian, Veronique Branquinho, but there are many others, just browse the link page alias "The Portal" and you will see. Even with a round toe these shoes are sexy!
